The Ghana Panel Discussion
The Ghana Panel Discussion is on Wednesday, May 8 at 6:00 PM in the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library’s Workman Room.
Ghana, known officially as the Republic of Ghana, is a country in West Africa that abuts the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. It is the second most populous country in West Africa with over 32 million inhabitants. Aside from traveling to Ghana, the next best way to get a sense of a place is to talk with people from that place.
Students from Eastern Illinois University who are also citizens of Ghana will be on the panel with Effingham High School's Ryan Ervin acting as moderator. They will share their stories and experiences.
Effingham Public Library Assistant Director Alvin Ealy says, "The library is a place for connection. Connection with literature, connection with learning, connection with curiosity just to name a few. It's also a place to connect with new ideas and witness the experience of others."
This is a free program and a library card is not needed to attend but registration is required.
