Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- The Consumer Product Safety Commission said nearly six million coffee makers are being recalled due to burn risk. The recall affects nearly six million Bodum french press coffee makers with eight-cup and 12-cup replaceable glass carafes.
The CPSC said the carafe can unexpectedly break during use if the glass is damaged or cracked, including if a metal spoon is used to stir the coffee. The CPSC said the Bodum name appears on the frame and inner lid of most models and is engraved on the glass carafes. Bodum USA, which issued the recall on October 29th, has received 70 reports of carafes breaking during use, 48 of which included reports of burns to consumers.
