Madonna M Vahling, 84 of Island Grove, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026 with her family around her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to St. Joseph’s Church or Meals on Wheels.
Madonna was born July 29, 1941 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Victor and Lavina (Nosbisch) Will. She was united in marriage to Leonard Vahling on February 23, 1963, and together they were blessed to celebrate 63 beautiful years of marriage. Madonna was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a homemaker.
Madonna is survived by her husband, Lenny of Island Grove, children, Duane of Island Grove, Diane (Steve) Bierman of rural Effingham and Deb (Carl) Repking of rural Effingham, Dean (Carrie) of Teutopolis, and Denise of Effingham, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, sisters, Virginia (Lonnie) Soltwedel of Effingham and Kathy (Robert) Einhorn of Teutopolis, brother-in-law, Harold (Jane) Vahling of Mattoon, Don (Barb) Vahling of Effingham, and sister-in-law, Doris (William) Walk of Sigel.
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James, Robert, and Leo Will, sister, Lorraine (Richard) Lidy and in-laws, Ralph & Eleanor Vahling, Clarence & Marilyn Vahling, and James & Anna Mae Waldhoff.
