Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- President Trump is granting clemency to five former NFL players. Joe Klecko, Nate Newton, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry and the late Billy Cannon received pardons from the president on Thursday. They wiped away criminal convictions tied to drug crimes, fraud and other offenses.
White House “pardon czar” Alice Marie Johnson announced the move in a post on social media where she wrote, “as football reminds us, excellence is built on grit, grace, and the courage to rise again. So is our nation.” Johnson also thanked President Trump “for his continued commitment to second chances.”
