Nationwide Recall On Popular Cake Mix Products Upgraded

Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A nationwide recall on popular cake mix products is being upgraded to the FDA’s most serious category.

B.C. Williams Bakery Service, Inc. issued a voluntary recall for its Spice Cake Mix, Bread and Roll Mix, and Swiss Chocolate Cake Mix over the presence of an undeclared milk allergen on December 23rd. The FDA requires food labels to identify all major food allergens as symptoms can range. The recall was later upgraded to a Class One risk level which the FDA’s website defines as “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”
