Peoria HS Boys Basketball Coach Charged With Soliciting Child Placed On Leave

Peoria, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Peoria High School boy’s basketball coach is on unpaid leave after being charged with soliciting a child.

Police say officers spoke with Daniel Ruffin and a 16-year-old female student on Monday. Officers observed inappropriate text messages on the teen’s phone and Ruffin was arrested for Indecent Solicitation of a Child.

Ruffin is a former basketball star at Bradley University. Ryan McElmurry has been appointed as the interim head basketball coach.
