Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Roads are still snow covered and slick, with packed snow and ice covering most local roads. The extreme cold will stick around all week.
A very cold airmass and frequently breezy conditions will result in sub-zero wind chills this week. Frostbite and hypothermia can set in at 30 minutes at these temperatures. Be sure to limit time spent in the cold and bring pets indoors. Cover all exposed skin, and keep an emergency kit with jumper cables in your car if you venture out or travel.
Most roads throughout the area are still slick, though drivable if you take your time and don’t brake or accelerate too fast. Please be extra careful if you must go out on these roads. As always, you can check updated road conditions at gettingaroundillinois.com.
