
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Sacred Heart School will be celebrating the nation-wide, annual Catholic Schools Week which kicks off during the 10:30am Mass on Sunday, January 25, at Sacred Heart Church. This is a special week to celebrate Christ-centered education, and this year’s theme is “United in Faith and Community.” Many activities have been planned to demonstrate how Sacred Heart School provides a strong foundation fostering faith formation, high-quality education, and discipleship.
All Week:
- Fundraiser for the Family Life Center – Each classroom will collect money throughout the week for the Family Life Center. The class with the highest average donation per student will receive a pizza party.
Sunday, Jan 25 – Celebrating Your Parish
- 10:30 Mass with Sacred Heart students leading Mass ministries and music
- Potluck after Mass – Niemerg’s chicken will be provided!
Monday, Jan. 26 – Celebrating Community
- Hat day – Students can wear their favorite hat to school
- Student Council will display special thank you posters at morning drop-off
Tuesday, Jan. 27 – Celebrating the Nation
- Students will come together for a Living Rosary, spending time together in prayer for our nation
- Students can wear red, white, & blue t-shirts
Wednesday, Jan. 28 – Celebrating Vocations
- Guests Fr. Zach Samples and Sr. Clementia will come talk with our students about vocations and following God’s call on your life
Thursday, Jan. 29 – Celebrating Students
- Grades K-8 will attend the “All-Schools Mass” at St. Anthony High School, along with other area Catholic Schools and Bishop Thomas John Paprocki from the Diocese of Springfield
- Grades K-4 will then enjoy an Activity Day at Sacred Heart School while grades 5-8 will enjoy an Activity Day at St. Anthony High School
- No homework day and no tests on Friday
Friday, Jan. 30- Celebrating Faculty and Staff
- Our Shamrock Parent Association (SPA) will provide ice cream treats for students and other special treats for the staff”
