Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes opened the new Coroner’s Office last week, and the upgrades from the old location were obvious.

The old location was a singular office in the Effingham County Government building, which makes this new location an upgrade just based on the extra space. Instead of one room for her office, Rhodes has a whole building for the Coroner’s Office, and she doesn’t have to use the St. Anthony morgue for the County as well.

Rhodes said the new location at this moment can hold triple the amount as before, and there is a drive through to make the process faster and easier. She also emphasized the setting as being better for families who are grieving, being able to sit in a waiting room instead of walking around the County Building looking for her small office.

Rhodes said the upgrade was also necessary because there are instances where neighboring counties may need to utilize their morgue if they run out of space, and with the upgrade in space, she can now accept those when needed.
The new location is at 207 West St. Anthony Avenue at the old Pet Feed location.
