Louisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The North Clay Community Unit School District #25 Board held a pivotal meeting on December 17, focusing on the 2025 tax levy during their Truth in Taxation hearing.
Superintendent Keith Price outlined an initial 81.65% levy increase, largely influenced by the district’s jump in property values—rising from $89 million to $125 million—due to the new solar farm. After community feedback, including concerns about higher property tax bills and praise for maintaining low rates in past years, board members narrowed the levy to a 55% increase, projecting a local tax rate of 3.08 for the coming year.
In other business, board members approved consent items, field trips, and recognized student excellence in essays and athletics. Staff changes included hiring for volleyball and cheer coach positions and approving unpaid leave requests.
The board entered and exited closed session to discuss personnel matters before officially adjourning.
