Alice E. Kaufmann, 83 of Effingham, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 at Axiom Gardens of Flora.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, with burial to follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.
Alice was born November 2, 1942 in Edwards County, the daughter of Cletus and Laura (Kocher) Rauch. She married Leonard J. Kaufmann on May 24, 1974 and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2025.
Alice is survived by her sons, Leon (Stacey) of Murphysboro, Thomas of Effingham, and Daniel (Phyllis) of Flora; grandchildren, Karly, Shelby, and Cody; sisters, Theresa (Gerald) Ochs, Gertrude Kocher, Delores Kerner, and Mary Kocher, all of Olney; brother-in-law, Kenneth Ochs and sister-in-law, Shirley Rauch.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Floyd Rauch; sister, Marcella Ochs; and brothers-in-law, Delmar Kocher, Larry Kerner, Donald Kocher.
