Luoisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The North Clay School Board met Wednesday, addressing key topics ranging from finances to staff changes.
Board members approved routine items before hearing public input, including a request for a lower tax levy. Principals highlighted positive school activities—standouts included recognition of “Jr. Deputies,” local donation drives, and preparations for Veterans Day events. High School PE teacher Sam Erwin showcased the impact of the Strength and Conditioning Program on student leadership and pride.
A major focus was the district’s 2025 tentative tax levy, set at 81.65%. Driven by the new solar farm, the district’s assessed value jumped by $23.4 million, shifting North Clay into a higher state funding tier and reducing future state aid increases. A legally-required truth in taxation hearing was scheduled.
Both schools received “commendable” ratings on Illinois School Report Cards. The board authorized applying for a state maintenance grant and approved a resolution to issue $3 million in working cash bonds. In closed session, multiple volleyball coaches’ resignations were accepted, and new hires included a science teacher for 2026 and an ELL paraprofessional.
The meeting adjourned without additional committee updates.
