
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The CDC, FDA and public health officials in several states are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Infections linked to eggs. Seventy-nine people across seven states have gotten sick with the same outbreak strain of Salmonella that has been tied to eggs. So far 21 people have been hospitalized and no deaths have been reported.
On Friday, August Egg Company based in Hilmar, California recalled over a million dozen brown cage free and brown certified organic eggs due to potential salmonella contamination. The recalled eggs were sold to retailers and restaurants in Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington and Wyoming.
