
Effingham County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- At approximately 9:32 am on Monday, May 26th the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police responded to a one vehicle crash on Moccasin Road, ½ mile E. of County Road 600 in rural Effingham County. Upon arrival, it was determined one male was deceased at the scene.
The Effingham County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene along with the Illinois State Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Crime Scene Unit. Altamont Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Ford Pick-up driven by David Hollinshead, age 72 of Teutopolis, Illinois was west bound on Moccasin Road when he ran off the north side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned. Hollinshead was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes.
An autopsy is scheduled for 8:30 am on Tuesday at the McLean County Coroner’s Office in Bloomington, Illinois.
The investigation is continuing by the Effingham County Coroner’s office, the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Illinois State Police Investigations.
