Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Today is set to be warm and windy, but a cooldown is on the way.
Today will be unseasonably warm with highs rising into the 60s over most of central IL, then a cold front will arrive in the afternoon and sweep across the area by evening, which will return temperatures closer to normal for the next few days.
A storm system will arrive early Wednesday morning, bringing freezing rain to parts of central IL mainly I-72 northward, with rain to the south. Ice accumulation is possible on the ground and elevated surfaces, and may cause hazardous driving conditions. Temperatures should rise above freezing by afternoon.
Scattered thunderstorms are possible Wednesday evening, then rain will come to an end by Thursday morning. Another storm system that could bring a wintry mix looks to be approaching by Friday night.
