Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- At approximately 2:30 pm on Friday January 24th, the Effingham City Police Department received a call to check the welfare of an individual at 311 S. Second St. in Effingham. Officers arrived and discovered a female deceased in her apartment.
The Effingham County Coroner’s office and the Effingham City Police Detectives were called to respond to the scene.
The individual was identified as Michelle Sutton, age 63 of Effingham. She had previously lived in Georgia and returned to Effingham recently.
The Coroner’s office obtained toxicology samples and those results should be available in approximately three weeks.
No foul play is suspected and the preliminary investigation appears to be of natural causes. The investigation is continuing by the Effingham Police Department and the Effingham County Coroner’s Office.
