On February 8th, 2024, Coles County Sheriff’s Investigators located the body of missing person Chad N. Brooks near Westfield Road in rural Charleston. Brooks was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A missing person report had been filed in Edgar County on February 4th, 2024. This is an active and ongoing investigation and no further information can be released at this time.

Missing Rural Edgar County man Chad N. Brooks. Last seen 1-31-2024 outside of Westfield in Coles County. He was walking away from his white Dodge pick-up that has been recovered. He was wearing a black hoodie with reflective stripes. He has no known cell phone. He has brown hair, blue eyes, 5’8″, 160 lbs with several tattoos.
If spotted please do not approach and call 911 or your local authorities. Never a good idea to approach persons unfamiliar to you.
