CHBC Comes Back From Down Double Digits Wins Against Altamont 62-58

On Thursday night in Cowden it was a reversal of what happened on Monday. On that night Altamont came back to win against North Clay after being down the majority of the game. On this night it was the Bobcats of CHBC after being down for most of the game coming back to win 62-58.

Altamont and Grace Nelson came out of the gates scoring the first five points of the game. After that CHBC battled back to go back and fourth with the Indians in the opening quarter. As Altamont took advantage of  five CHBC turnovers in the opening quarter. Combine the turnovers with the three pointers from Nelson and Skylie Klein, gave Altamont the slight edge. Nelson would also finish with 13 of the 18 points for the Indians. It was Bobcat senior Gracie Heckert, with a three at the buzzer to close out the first quarter keeping CHBC within three, 18-15 after the opening quarter.

In the second it would be more of the same for the Bobcats. As Heckert would keep her team in it by scoring nine in the second quarter alone. Nelson would be slowed up to just four points in the quarter. But the shots from beyond the arc would continue to fall for Altamont. Remington Miller and Libby Reardon would get threes to fall. Despite another five turnovers from the Bobcats they still were able to cut it within one, 30-29 at the half.

Altamont would start out the second half on run started by a Peyton Osteen bucket, a Claire Boehm three, and a Nelson old fashion three point play, would have the lead up to double digits for Altamont. Then the comeback was on as Macee Rodman banked in a three. Due to foul trouble Karlee Smith came in and made a couple free throw line jumpers. That got CHBC within six 48-42 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter the comeback would be complete as Rodman had a couple more threes and some free throws, that got the Bobcats within one possession. It was Carmen Olesen making the biggest shot of the game. With around two minutes left in the game, Olesen stepped up and made a three to give CHBC the lead 55-53 and the Bobcats never relinquished again.  CHBC outscores Altamont 20-10 in the final quarter, with the Indians only making one field goal in the final quarter. After that only field goal by Nelson, Heckert would be at the line to put the game out of reach. Heckert made the first one to make it 60-58. Heckert would miss the second one, only for Madison Wojcik to take the ball away from Nelson and put it in the basket as time winded down.

CHBC improves to  9-4 and 2-1 in the NTC

Altamont falls to 9-2 and 3-2 in the NTC. The Lady Indians are back in action less than 24 hours from now on Friday Mega Night at Altamont against Oblong / Pal-Hut.
