Both Altamont Indians boys and girls teams traveled to Woodlawn on Saturday where Altamont split the day.
In the first game it was ladies first. As Altamont had a tough time of getting anything going offensively threw out the day, the Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 12-9 lead after one thanks in part to a pair of threes from Jase Burkett.
Woodlawn would extend their lead out in the second quarter thanks to Ella Bequette rebounding and Megan Sweeten scoring six points off the bench. Altamont’s Grace Nelson put together 12 points at the half to try and keep the Lady Indians within striking distance but Woodlawn led 26-18 at the half.
Woodlawn increased their led again in the third quarter by taking advantage of some fast breaks and rebounding. Woodland extended their lead out to 41-25 after three.
The Cardinals would close things out in the fourth to go on to win 60-32.
Altamont falls to 9-11 on the season and are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Brownstown to take on the Bombers from Brownstown / St. Elmo

As in the second game after the boys JV team picked up the win, the Indians would look to win the day and the boys took care of business.
Altamont got off to a great start offensively spreading the wealth with, 5 different players picking up baskets including Jared Hammer hitting a couple of floaters inside and also knocking down a trifecta for his seven first quarter points. Altamont jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one.
In the second quarter Mason Robinson was the only starter not to get in the scoring column in the opening quarter, he made up for that knocking down a pair of threes and finishing with 8 points in the quarter. Indians would play stifling defense, as the Cardinals only could score a 4 in the quarter all from Wyatt Rollie. The Indians would led by 20 at the half 30-10.
Woodlawn would have their best quarter of the game in third. Rollie continued to roll in the third quarter scoring 6 and the Cardinals other scoring leader Chance Phelps mad three from the line to try and claw back. But it was the post players of Altamont who took over. Will Schultz and Eric Kollmann took over as they would combine for Altamont’s 10 points in the quarter.
The Indians wouldn’t have to do much in the fourth as they had another balanced scoring effort. Altamont cruised to a 54-28 victory.
Altamont improved to 13-4 overall and faces Central A & M on Tuesday.
