On Saturday afternoon Altamont traveled to Greenville to take on the Comets and would return home with the second win in as many days, a 64-54 over Bond County.
Both teams came out shooting exactly the same from the field 6 for 11 but they took different paths to get there. The Indians would use a balanced scoring effort, five players getting into the scoring column with Jared Hammer knocking down a three and had five to lead Altamont. For Greenville it was Peyton McCullough who had half of the Comets points in the quarter with seven. The only difference was the free throw that Altamont would make to give the Indians the 15-14 lead after one.
Altamont would extend their lead at the half with a scoring outburst from Mason Robinson with eight in the quarter. Altamont’s defense would clamp down on McCullough holding him to just a basket in the quarter. The score was 33-26 at the half.
Greenville would climb back into it with the duo of McCullough and Jack Schaufelberger, who would knock down a couple of three pointers and have eight in the quarter. Greenville would cut into the lead just slightly trailing 47-41 after three.
The Comets would never go away, as a pair of threes by McCullough and Landen Moss would keep them in the game. However the rebounding for Altamont would be the difference. Eric Kollmann would knock down a pair of free throws and finish with six in the quarter to close out the win for Altamont 64-54.
Altamont improves to 6-2 on the season.
Greenville falls to 4-5 on the season.
Next up for Altamont is a home game on Tuesday against Casey-Westfield.
