Shelbyville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Shelby County Health Department announced two deaths for the period of October 18th – October 24th and fifty-one county residents whom tested positive for Covid-19. A male in his 50’s and a female in her 70’s has died whom had previously tested positive for Covid-19.
State metrics reported for the week end October 16, 2021, has Shelby County’s seven day rolling average for positivity increasing to 8.7% from the previous week of 5.9%. Weekly positive rates per 100,000 population remained at 432 per 100K, significantly above the state’s target rate of 50 per 100K. Shelby County now has three thousand, four hundred and forty-five (3445) confirmed residents that have tested positive for Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. For vaccinations of individuals ages 18 and older, contact the health department at 217-774-9555 to schedule an appointment to receive the two dose Moderna vaccine or Johnson & Johnson one dose vaccine or to inquire regarding a booster vaccination.
COVID-19 spreads from person-to-person by respiratory droplets, which occurs when someone who is sick coughs or sneezes. Symptoms for COVID-19 usually appear 2 to 14 days after initial exposure to the disease.
