The Cumberland Pirates got back on track with a big win over Villa Grove 47-8.
Cumberland scored 4 times in the first quarter, including the first defensive touchdown of the season. Cumberland offensively was let by Galen Martinez who had 176 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Cumberland defense held Villa Grove to 146 total yards.
Cumberland scored on their first drive of the game with a 2 yard Martinez touchdown run. After forcing a three and out Cumberland scored again on a 32 yard run by Martinez. Cumberland would then add another score with a Logan Thilker 42 yard interception return for a touchdown. Iysten Syfert added a 7 yard touchdown run to close out the quarter. Cumberland would add three more scores to get the win.
Cumberland is now 4-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. Cumberland will travel to 2-3 Tri-County next week.
