Chicago, IL -(Effingham Radio)- With COVID-19 cases on the rise, the Get My Payment Illinois Coalition is urging eligible Illinoisans to take action ahead of a critical deadline for relief this week.
Many in Illinois still have not received the federal CARES Act stimulus check they are owed – and must submit their information to the IRS by November 21 at 2 p.m. CT to get the payment this year.
The IRS recently sent 309,972 letters to Illinoisans who aren’t required to file federal income tax returns but may qualify for the 2020 economic income tax payment. Many of these individuals still need to act to receive the payment and are among the people who could benefit most from a stimulus check during these difficult times, including homeless and low-income Illinoisans.
Meegan Dugan Bassett is a fellow with New America Chicago, one of the nonprofits in the Get My Payment Illinois Coalition. She is available for interviews during this critical week, and can speak about:
- Groups that can still claim a payment ahead of Saturday’s final deadline for 2020, including lower-income individuals as well as Illinoisans who may not have claimed additional stimulus funds for their dependents
- Steps eligible members of your audience can take to secure the payments they are owed through an IRS portal
- The Get My Payment Illinois Coalition’s work to ensure as many eligible Illinoisans get the stimulus payment they deserve during the pandemic, and other ways Illinoisans may be able to get relief during this difficult year
Meegan can also provide testimonials from clients served by the Coalition this year, as well as data on the IRS’ September outreach to Illinoisans regarding potential stimulus check eligibility broken down by key zip codes.
