Mound Township, IL -(Effingham Radio)-The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Effingham Police Department:
WHAT:
- 2 vehicle accident with injury
WHERE:
- Intersection of US Highway 40 & 200th Street – Mound Township
WHEN:
- 8-12-20 at 5:05pm
VEHICLE:
- UNIT 1 – White 2017 Buick Enclave
- UNIT 2 – Silver 2020 Ford Fusion
DRIVER:
- UNIT 1 – Cheryl A. Habing, 56, of Effingham
- UNIT 2 – Tammy B. Woolsey, 59, of Vandalia
PRELIMINARY:
- Route 40 eastbound lanes were stopped, bumper to bumper, due to a detour from an I-70 accident. Unit 1 was travelling northbound on 200th street and attempted to cross Route 40 between two stopped semis. Unit 1 failed to see Unit 2 westbound on Route 40. Unit 1 struck Unit 2 in the westbound lane. Both vehicles came to rest on the north side of the highway.
CHARGES:
- UNIT 1 – Failure to yield at a stop intersection
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
