Washington, DC -(Effingham Radio)- Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is rejecting a bid by Illinois Republicans to hold a large political gathering despite restrictions by the state’s governor.
The state party and other Republican groups claimed the public health order by Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker violated their First Amendment rights. The Republicans wanted to hold a Fourth of July picnic. Pritzker’s order bars any gathering of more than 50 people.
Kavanaugh did not explain why he was rejecting their petition.
