Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Mattoon Police arrested Joseph M. Derixson, 43 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Arson.
The arrest occurred on 4/14/2020 at 4:10pm in the 2000 block of Champaign Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 4/9/20, Mr. Derixson entered a structure located in the 1200 block of S. 14th Street, and set fire to the structure, causing damage. Mr. Derixson was released from IDOC in January of 2019 for a 2013 arson conviction in Coles County, and is currently on parole. Mr. Derixson was taken to the Coles County Jail.
