Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- A new Illinois law now makes military discharge papers available to the public.
Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the law Friday.
The law was recommended by the Tazewell County Clerk’s office.
The records were previously available only to immediate family members.
Now anyone can view records dating back to the Civil War at any county clerk’s office.
