Macomb, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Professors and other workers at Western Illinois University say they are almost to their goal of six thousand signatures on a petition to save their jobs.
The petition is the latest attempt to get state lawmakers to do something after Western announced 130 layoff last week.
The school says it is trying to deal with plummeting enrollment.
The professors say they were promised their jobs were safe.
