The Effingham Fire Department is taking part in granting the wish of a four-year-old boy that perished in a fire in McCormick, South Carolina earlier this month.
We spoke with Effingham Fire Chief, Joseph Holomy, in regards to the wish. According to Chief Holomy, family members of four-year-old, James Raugh, requested for Raugh to be put on-duty at fire stations following the child’s untimely death. Raugh had loved the fire department and was planning on becoming a firefighter when he grew up. This request has since gone viral with departments across the United States and Internationally putting Raugh’s name on trucks, on-duty screens, helmets, and coats, Effingham Fire Department included. The departments are then posting pictures of these tributes to social media using the hashtag, #JRaughOnDuty.
Chief Holomy gave the following statement regarding Raugh and the wish.
According to WJBF out of South Carolina, Raugh, his father 25-year-old Nathan Raugh and his sisters, 3-year-old Jalissa and 1-year-old Jordan, and dog were all killed when their two mobile homes, combined as one caught fire on Monday.
