William F. “Bill” Frese, 78, peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at his home in Effingham, surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, with a 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorial donations may be given to Fear Nothing.
Bill was born June 4, 1947, in Effingham, the son of Floyd and Loretta (Goebel) Frese. He married Linda K. Seely, on November 26, 1970, and together they built a life centered on family.
Bill proudly served the Effingham community as a police officer for 30 years. He dedicated much of his life to serving and protecting others. After retiring from the police department, Bill enjoyed a second career with J.B. Esker & Sons Concrete. He valued the hard work and the friendships he formed, and took pride in continuing to stay busy.
He found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. He loved hunting with his children and grandchildren, moments that became cherished traditions and lasting memories. Bill had a gift for making people laugh. His quick wit and sense of humor brought light to every room. Bill was a man who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda of Effingham; sons, William (Amy) of Effingham and Bradley of Teutopolis; daughter, Lori Ohnesorge of Teutopolis; five grandchildren, Bailey Frese (James Williams), Kole Ohnesorge, Katelyn Frese, Lane Ohnesorge, and Brayden Frese; great-grandchild, JJ Williams; siblings, Mike Frese, Pete Frese (special friend, Joyce Waitkus), Lucy (Richard) Kenter, and Patty (Thomas) Zerrusen.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Martha “Mert” (Larry) McMahon and sister-in-law, Karlene Frese.
