Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter National Society Daughters of the American revolution celebrated the DAR Good Citizens at the March 28th meeting. After a program focused on Flag Etiquette presented by Robert and Charlie McWhorter from the Effingham DAV, the award presentation was held followed by a brunch.
Nine local high schools nominated outstanding seniors to be candidates for the DAR Good Citizen Award. To be eligible for this award, students must demonstrate the qualities of dependability, service to their schools and community, leadership, cooperation, courtesy, positive role models, and patriotism. Good Citizens chairman Carolyn Buck gave an overview of each student’s accomplishments and future plans and Regent Susan Oliver presented pins, certificates, and small flags to this year’s winners: Katie Tedrick- Altamont High School; Gage Hart- Beecher City High School; August Cosart- Cowden Herrick High School; Kayla Goebel- Dieterich High School; Alyssa Martin- Effingham High School; Elliott Kocher- Newton Community High School; Melanie Probst- Stewardson Strasburg High School; and Allie Ruholl- Teutopolis High School. Ellie Link- St. Anthony High School was unable to attend. She received her pin, certificate, and flag earlier this month from the committee chair and chapter Regent.
Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter are proud to take this opportunity to recognize the outstanding youth in our communities.
