
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- On March 9, 2026, investigators from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Effingham Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration were assisted by the ILEAS Special Response Team in executing a search warrant at 108 S. Willow Street in Effingham, Illinois.
The search warrant was the result of a joint narcotics investigation conducted by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Effingham Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Execution of the warrant resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of crystal methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, a DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) extraction laboratory, a large quantity of DMT, and other controlled substances. Additionally, investigators located evidence consistent with the manufacture and distribution of narcotics.
Allen G. Matlock, 38, of Effingham, was taken into custody for the following offenses without incident:
- Methamphetamine Delivery (15–100 grams)
- Possession of Methamphetamine (15–100 grams)
- Controlled Substance Delivery (50–200 grams)
- Manufacture of a Controlled Substance (400–900 grams)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (400–900 grams)
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Effingham Police Department, and DEA were assisted at the scene by the Effingham Fire Department and the Illinois State Police Clandestine Laboratory Response Team.
Matlock remains in custody at the Effingham County Jail awaiting a pre-trial detention hearing and formal charging.
Chief Kurt Davis and Sheriff Paul Kuhns noted that this case highlights the continued cooperation between their agencies and other regional partners to protect the community.
