Teutopolis, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County deputies served an arrest warrant on Jeffery R. Esker, 34, of Teutopolis, during the afternoon of December 5th, 2025. The warrant stems from alleged criminal offenses reported within Effingham County and investigated by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.
The warrant, issued December 5th in the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court, charges Esker with two counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child (victim under 13 years of age), both classified as Class X felonies.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by the Effingham County State’s Attorney’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as it progresses.
Esker was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Effingham County Jail following a pre-trial detention hearing on December 8th. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 11th.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
