Dustin L. Ballinger, 41 of Bettendorf, Iowa formerly of Stewardson, Illinois passed away at 9:20 AM Thursday in the Mercy Genesis Hospital in Davenport Iowa. Dustin was born February 8, 1984 in Effingham, Illinois the son of David “Dub” and Paulette (Latch) Ballinger. Dustin graduated in the class of 2002 from Stewardson – Strasburg High School. He worked in Refractory Construction. He married Rachel Carsell in 2008 in Moline, Illinois she survives and remains a friend. He loved sports and was a proud father who enjoyed following his children in their sports and activities both are great athletes. He was an amazing father and friend. He was highly skilled in his trade and was very respected in his profession. He was a big brother to four siblings Big Bubba and BigBalli to all. Dustin was often spoken of as a great guy and friend with a big heart. He loved the Illini and the Chicago Bears. From his friends in Iowa, “Dustin was the most loyal guy to his friends and family. He had a huge heart and was always there to provide support. He took his support to another level for Greyson and Mila. Everything in his world was based on supporting his two kids. He will be greatly missed by everybody, especially his smile and laugh that would ignite an entire room. He was greatly loved by his Quad Cities family, even though we always knew he was so proud to be from southern Illinois.” Mr. Ballinger is survived by his parents David “Dub” and Paulette Ballinger of rural Windsor; his children, Greyson and Mila Ballinger of Davenport, Iowa; grandmother, Betty Latch of Neoga, Illinois; siblings, Heather (Rusty) Rincker of Windsor, Illinois, Travis (Rachelle) Ballinger of Neoga, Illinois, Henry Ballinger of Windsor, Illinois, and Pyrinthia Ballinger of Windsor, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; ex wife, Rachel (Manny) Martinez of Davenport, Iowa.
Dustin was preceded in death by grandparents Dale and Polly Ballinger; grandfather, Charles Latch and several uncles.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family to help with his children’s education.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 PM Monday December 8, 2025 in the Neoga First Christian Church in Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be Monday December 8, 2025 from 4:00 PM until service time also in the church. A private Burial will be held at a later date in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in Stewardson, Illinois
