Effingham, IL-(Vandalia Radio)-Strong to severe storms are possible over the area this afternoon and this evening.
Our forecast for today says showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon with a high of 64.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis say isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible mainly across southwest Illinois this afternoon ahead of a cold front moving through the area. Not everyone will see a severe thunderstorm, or even rain, but the best chance for these thunderstorms will be from 3-7 PM. Any storms that become severe will be capable mainly of damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter sized hail, although a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.
