Interview With G. H. Merritt, Chairman Of “New Illinois” Movement

Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Cromwell News Team recently chatted with G. H. Merritt, Chairman of the “New Illinois” movement.

We asked her for more information on the movement, and what to expect from the upcoming New IL event at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in November.

 

Question 1. What is New Illinois? What is the goal of the movement?
Question 2. Why do you want to separate from Chicago, and where will the split likely be at?

Question 3. Will this split cause any problems as far as funding state programs and safety nets in New Illinois? How do you intend to make up for the lost funding coming from Chicago?

Question 4. How can this measure become a reality when Democrats are in charge of the state congress, and the measure isn’t even likely to be considered? How do you overcome these hurdles?
Question 5. What is your message to Illinoisans? Can you also give more details about the upcoming New IL event in Effingham in November?

 

We thank G. H. Merritt for taking the time to explain this movement so anyone who is interested can get involved. The New Illinois event at the Thelma Keller Convention Center will be on November 11th and 12th, starting the evening of the 11th, which is a Friday.
