Springfield, IL-(Effingham Radio)- An audit shows the Illinois Department of Human Services is not following-up on suspected criminal activity of Medicaid providers in Illinois, including in group homes. They are called CILAs for those with developmental disabilities, which stands for Community Integrated Living Arrangement.
State Representative Charlie Meier says these group homes need to be checked on from time to time.
An investigation showed at least two dozen employees have been arrested on felony charges at one facility in rural Anna in the past decade. Meier says the residents of these facilities deserve better care.
Meier and a bipartisan group of lawmakers have introduced legislation which would direct the Auditor General to conduct a management audit concerning the oversight of the CILA program.
