
Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- On Aug. 18, 2021, at approximately 8:45 p.m., an Illinois State Police (ISP) Trooper attempted to stop a motor vehicle for traffic violations on Interstate 57 northbound at milepost 244, in Champaign County.
The driver, later identified as Jermaine C. Bunch, a 31-year-old male of Rantoul, IL,
and the passenger, later identified as Dantaevious D. Washington, a 29-year-old male of Rantoul, IL,
were detained after items of a criminal nature were observed in plain sight in the vehicle. Troopers seized a handgun and illegal drugs as a result of this stop.
Bunch was charged with Unlawful Use / Possession of Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Manufacture / Delivery of Cannabis – More than 10 but less than 30 grams. Washington was charged with Unlawful Use / Possession of Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Attempt to Manufacture / Deliver Cannabis – More than 10 but less than 30 grams. Both were transported to Champaign County Jail. Bunch’s bond was set at $250,000, 10% to apply and Washington’s bond was set at $150,000, 10% to apply. There is no further information available.
The public is reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
