Lincoln, IL -(Effingham Radio)- A 97-year-old Illinois man is completing his college education after he dropped out to serve in World War II.
Bill Gossett was in school, but joined the Army before he could finish his degree. When he returned home from war, he had to take over his family’s cleaning business instead of returning to school. Gossett completed his Associate’s degree in 2020, but had to wait until 2021 for the graduation ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Lincoln College surprised Gossett at the ceremony with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
