Las Vegas, NV-(Effingham Radio)- An Altamont alum has been disqualified from the Ms America Pageant.
Katie Williams was recently disqualified from the pageant where she was to be representing Ms. Nevada State 2019.
Williams says that the disqualification was “because of her conservative values”.
In a recent interview with Fox & Friends, Williams says that she joined the pageant in April to “showcase my different aspects of my personality and encourage young women to be themselves and be different”.
Williams then stated in the interview that as time went on and she had correspondence with the Pageant Coordinator, “it became very clear that there was a clear political bias towards me. Other contestants posted things that were maybe more on the liberal side and nothing was ever done. And yet, the moment I donned the Trump 2020 hat it was all going”.
Williams’ interview with Fox & Friends can be seen in the clip below.
According to the Ms America Pageant’s Official Website, Williams is distorting the facts.
The website states that Williams was asked to “keep separate social media accounts. (ie: Facebook) One is for politics where she can voice her own opinion as Katie Williams and the other is a new Facebook page for the pageant representing Ms. Nevada State 2019.”
It then states that the disqualification had nothing to do with Williams’ personal political views.
The full response from the Pageant’s website states, “IN RESPONSE TO KATIE WILLIAMS ACCUSATIONS
None of this had to do with her personal political views. They are immaterial. She has her Personal Facebook page to voice her political views. She could be a President Trump supporter on her Personal Facebook page all she wants for everyone to read. However, the Ms. Nevada Facebook Page should be devoid of political content.
