Peoria, IL-(Effingham Radio)- An Illinois man convicted of kidnapping and killing a Chinese visiting scholar will spend life in prison.
Brendt Christensen was found guilty last month for the kidnapping and murder of Yingying Zhang two years ago.
The same jury couldn’t reach a unanimous decision on the death penalty for Christensen Thursday after eight hours of deliberation.
He was then sentenced to life in prison by default.
Zhang’s body has never been found, but DNA matched blood found inside Christensen’s bedroom.
