ST LOUIS, MO AND PADUCAH, KY-(Effingham Radio)- A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for counties in our listening area from the National Weather Services in St Louis, Missouri and Paducah, Kentucky.
The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued the Winter Storm Warning from 3pm Friday to Noon Saturday for the counties of Jefferson, Wayne, and Edwards.
This warning includes the cities of Mount Vernon, Fairfield, and Albion.
Heavy mixed precipitation, total snow accumulations of 3-5 inches, and a light glaze of ice is expected with this Warning, North of a line extending from Anna to Carmi.
Motorists are encouraged to plan on slippery road conditions that could impact the evening commute.
The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued the Winter Storm Warning from 6pm Friday to Midnight Saturday Night for the counties of Bond, Clinton, Fayette, Marion, and Montgomery.
This warning includes the cities of Centralia, Salem, and Vandalia.
Heavy snow with total accumulations of 5-8 inches are expected, including locally higher amounts, with this Warning.
Motorists are reminded that travel could become difficult and the hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.
The National Weather Service reminds motorists that if travel is necessary to take extreme caution and begin their travel with a full tank of gas, and carry a winter storm kit, which includes a shovel, flashlight, cellphone, food and water, and blankets of extra warm clothing.
