Carbondale, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The top man at Southern Illinois University says enrollment will be down once again next year, and that’s going to force the university to shrink its footprint.
SIU President J. Kevin Dorsey told students and faculty members on Friday that the school is going to have to get leaner and more focused to thrive going forward.
Dorsey said even with a larger freshman class next year, the school’s enrollment will be down.
The only good news that Dorsey had is that there are rumors of a bigger and more generous state budget for universities next year.
