Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County’s Impact 2030 Creative Learning Culture and Strong Community hosted a volunteer fair at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library on Thursday, November 29 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm themed: Give of Yourself in Effingham County Volunteer Fair Fall 2018. The event was free and was sponsored by the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library, Matt Beck Edward Jones, and the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation. Boxed lunches were provided to those who pre-registered. The volunteer fair provided the opportunity to connect local Effingham County nonprofits and organizations with potential volunteers. Organizations attended the event promote their efforts and find eager citizens to fill their volunteer needs. Volunteers had a one-stop-shop to meet participating organizations and find volunteer opportunities aligned with their passions and skills. We were thrilled to have seventeen organizations were represented.
The organizations commented that they benefited from increased exposure by getting information to the public about their organizations and the volunteer opportunities that exist with them.
We feel much may be gained by building relationships among people in the community who wish to make a difference working together.
