Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- You can never be too safe when it comes to a threat of violence at any school. Our nation has seen 307 mass shootings in 2018 alone.
There were reports of a student at Effingham High School stating to a fellow student that there was to be a display of violence at a scheduled afternoon pep rally for the EHS Football team.
From our analysis of multiple social media posts from concerned parents, it would indicate that the rumored statement was in regards to a possible shooting to take place.
After speaking with staff from Effingham High School, it was verified that the students were let out early as a standard safety precaution and no violence took place.
The EHS Football teams afternoon pep rally was cancelled.
