MATTOON, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The following has been released by the Mattoon Police Department:
- Mattoon Police arrested Gage P. Shafer, 18 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Unlawful Sale and Delivery of a Firearm. The arrest occurred on 10/30/18 at 11:20am in the 1600 block of Richmond Ave in Mattoon. The charges allege that during the evening of 10/27/18, Mr. Shafer stole a handgun from a residence in the 2500 block of Moultrie. The charges also allege that after stealing the handgun, Mr. Shafer then sold it to a 17 year old male juvenile. The 17 year old male juvenile was also located by police, and had possession of the stolen firearm. Mr. Shafer was placed in the Coles County Jail.
- Mattoon Police arrested Aaron J. Miller, 33 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Domestic Battery. The arrest occurred on 10/30/2018 at 11:23am in the 800 block of Edgar Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 10/30/18 while in the 600 block of Richmond Ave, and during a domestic argument, Mr. Miller placed his hands around a females throat, and struck her in the stomach. Mr. Miller was taken to the Coles County Jail.
- Mattoon Police arrested Desiree D. Tull, 24 years of age of Shelbyville, IL, for the offenses of Possession of Methamphetamine and felony Theft. The arrest occurred on 11/1/2018 at 1:46pm at Walmart located at 101 Dettro Drive in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 11/1/18, Mattoon Police were called to Walmart regarding employees having witnessed a female stealing merchandise from the store. Upon police arrival, they identified the female as Ms. Tull, and placed her under arrest for theft. The theft charge was elevated to a felony due to previous convictions. The charges also allege that during the time of being arrested for theft, Ms. Tull was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Ms. Tull was taken to the Coles County Jail.
- Mattoon Police arrested James R. Charboneau, 35 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine. The arrest occurred on 11/02/2018 at 5:30pm at 24th and Prairie in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 11/2/18, police stopped and identified Mr. Charboneau after witnessing him coming from a residence earlier reported police as suspicious for drug activity. During the stop, Mr. Charboneau was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Mr. Charboneau was taken to the Coles County Jail.
- Mattoon Police arrested Amanda M. Mitchell, 36 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The arrest occurred on 11/2/2018 at 5:54pm in the 2600 block of Pine in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 11/2/18, police were called to a residence in the 2600 block of Pine regarding a domestic disturbance, and made contact with Ms. Mitchell, who was wanted on two active Coles County warrants. The charges allege that during this encounter with Ms. Mitchell, she was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and pills classified as a controlled substance. Ms. Mitchell was taken to the Coles County Jail.
