Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- A Jewish congregation in Springfield is honoring the victims of Saturday’s mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
Rabbi Mendy Turen and about 40 congregants lit candles and read the name of each victim in a special memorial ceremony last night at Chabad [[ hah-BAHD ]] in Springfield.
Mayor Jim Langfelder attended and spoke at the service.
The congregation read from the Kaddish [[ kah-DEESH ]], a traditional Jewish prayer of mourning for the dead.
