MATTOON, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The following has been released by the Mattoon Police Department:
October 20, 2018
- Mattoon Police arrested 56 year old Billy G. Tipsword Sr. of Mattoon, and 37 year old Sarah L. Wilson of Humboldt, for the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine. The arrest occurred on 10/20/2018 at 8:58am in the 1300 block of Piatt in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 10/20/18 while in the 1300 block of Piatt, police stopped a vehicle Mr. Tipsword and Ms. Wilson were traveling in, and during that time both Mr. Tipsword and Ms. Wilson had possession of Methamphetamine. Both Mr. Tipsword and Ms. Wilson were taken to the Coles County Jail.
- Mattoon Police arrested Fernando C. Lemons, 42 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Felony Retail Theft and Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property. The arrest occurred on 10/20/2018 at 1:22pm at the Mattoon Police Department. The Felony Retail Theft charge alleges that on 08/11/18 while at County Market in Mattoon, Mr. Lemons removed merchandise from the store without paying for it, and had prior convictions of retail theft making this charge a felony. The Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property charge alleges that on 10/15/18, and while at the AMTRAK Station located at 1718 Broadway Ave in Mattoon, Mr. Lemons punched and broke a glass window to the building. Mr. Lemons was taken to the Coles County Jail for both charges.
- Mattoon Police arrested John J. Harris Jr., 45 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Domestic Battery. The arrest occurred on 10/20/2018 at 2:38pm at the Mattoon Police Department. The charge alleges that on 10/20/18 during a domestic dispute, and while in the 2500 block of Commercial in Mattoon, Mr. Harris grabbed a female around the neck and punched her. Mr. Harris was taken to the Coles County Jail.
