Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Five of the 92 people across the country who are sick with salmonella are from Illinois.
The state’s Department of Public Health yesterday said Illinois is one of 29 states across the country dealing with the illness.
Ninety percent of cases are linked to raw or undercooked chicken.
The Department of Public Health says people need to fully cook raw chicken, to 165 degrees, and wash their hands, cutting boards, knives, and counters after handling raw birds or raw pieces.
