COLES COUNTY, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Two people were injured in an accident that occurred in Coles County on Wednesday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on Route 130, 1 mile south of Route 133, at 2:25pm.
The report states that a tractor trailer and an IDOT Utility truck were traveling southbound on Route 130.
The driver of the IDOT truck, a 43 year old male from Mattoon, activated his utility lights and attempted to turn eastbound into a farm field access.
The tractor trailer, driven by a 42 year old male from Evansville, Indiana, struck the rear of the IDOT truck, left the roadway, and came to a rest in a farm field.
The IDOT truck spun 180 degrees, left the roadway, and came to a rest in the ditch.
The driver of the IDOT truck was taken to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer reported minor injuries and was treated on-scene by EMS.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
